The David W. Niven Collection of Early Jazz Legends, 1921-1991

According to the Internet Archive webpage, the David W. Niven Collection contains 1,000 hours of classic jazz recordings.  Originally on cassette tapes, the Collection's curator has meticulously transferred the cassette recordings to digital files.  Besides the music, these recordings include Mr. Niven providing narration and biographical background on the various performers.  Mr. Niven, a lifelong jazz enthusiast, provides a wealth of detail on these recordings, including dates of recording sessions and the performers on the respective recordings. 

It's an impressive collection of musicians and singers, including -- but not limited to -- Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Stan Getz, Thelonious Monk, Frank Sinatra, Charlie Christian, Duke Ellington, and Oscar Peterson.  The title is something of a misnomer, as some of the recordings are from as late as the 1980s, and it's debatable whether these could be considered "early jazz."  My comment is more of an observation -- not a criticism.
